Python is an open source computer language, perhaps it is the most popular computer language by the time of writing for this website.

Free to use. Unlike Matlab, it is free to use and is an open source programming language. It also has other merits which are worthwhile to mention below:

It has lot of libraries which greatly increase its power for MRI image analysis, data processing, and statistical analysis.
With numpy, scipy, matplotlib, and other open source Python libraries, the powerfulness of using Python to process scientific data is greatly increased.
For interface design, PyQt, TKinter, and WxPython can be applied.
Last but not least, there are several libraries for deep learning and machine learning.

Because of these, we will also adopt Python to process MRI data.
